NKEMKA, CHINAZA RACHEL

Chinaza Nkemka (b. 1999) is a Lagos-based postmodernist visual artist from Imo State, Nigeria. As a self-taught painter, she has cultivated a distinctive artistic voice, marked by her innovative use of mixed media, with acrylic as her primary medium. Her work reflects an organic development, shaped by her personal explorations and the informal mentorship she receives from close friends and fellow artists, whose feedback and guidance enrich her creative journey. Chinaza’s art is both intimate and expansive, navigating deeply personal themes while resonating with universal experiences.

Over the years, Chinaza has participated in a number of prestigious exhibitions and art fairs, both locally and internationally. Her work has been featured in shows such as shout plenty – (AAF), on the fringe – AG18, and IDesign/+234 – SOTO Gallery, among others. Her ability to evoke emotion and thought through her pieces has attracted notable commissions, including *The Evil Genius* by Mr. Eazi, and collaborations with platforms like Spotify Africa. Her collector base includes prominent Nigerian artists and cultural figures such as Ayanfe Olarinde, Yusuf Aina, and Ebuka Nwobi.
